Mother fox with rusty fur
On a journey to the hill
Her Cubs follow close nearby
Tired with blistered paws
But there is no time to rest
Fleeing from what’s haunting them
Leaving their homes behind
Will this morning’s sunrise
Be the last one they will see
Their hearts pounding with fear

Foxes, Badgers and deer’s unites
On the hill where the forest ends
The frost awakens down below
When the rays of the sunlight fade away
Fur blowing in the wind, on top of the hill

Snails! they are soon here
Spotted by the mighty owl on top of the oak tree
Badgers, hold you ground
Foxes, flank around
Deer’s charge straight ahead
Jumping high on tiny legs.
By the end up amongst the stars
And forever in the fox’s hearts.
Foxes sneaks up from behind
They are quicker but they can’t bite though the snail shells
Badgers, join the attack
Foxes, fall to the back
Badgers with strong teeth
The Snails shout retreat
For some the sun will rise again
But for heroes this was the end

From the safety of the hill
Mother fox stood guard
A goose flew above them
Honking, fear no more, we victorious
The fox was wise, and knew too well
There is no such a thing, as victory
A fairytale told, to not live in fear
She told to her cubs, on that day in spring
With tears running down her fur

All the days turned into years and mother fox died
But on the hill her grown cubs stand
Guarding their land
Fur blowing in the wind, on top of the hill

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
